Description

In the spring and summer, the duo of chocolate and strawberries is something I must have basically every week. This year is no exception, especially now that I’ve created this fun recipe of strawberries with double chocolate power sauce! (Note: This is a sponsored post)

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 7 ounces vanilla unsweetened plant-based milk of choice*
  • 6 ounces bittersweet or semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon unrefined coconut oil
  • 1 scoop (43 grams) Double Chocolate or Chocolate Naked Pea protein powder
  • 1 pound large organic strawberries**

Instructions

  1. In a double boiler (or stainless bowl placed on the rim of a saucepan with 1-inch of water in saucepan) over low heat, gently melt the chocolate with plant-based milk and coconut oil, whisking a couple times, to form a smooth dark chocolate sauce.
  2. Thoroughly whisk in the Naked Pea protein powder, making sure no lumps remain.
  3. Pour the chocolate sauce into a heatproof serving bowl or fondue pot.
  4. Serve warm as a fondue-style sauce for dunking fresh strawberries. Use bamboo skewers with the strawberries for added fun. Makes a great spring or summer appetizer, snack, or dessert.

Notes

If you’re an extra-dark chocolate fan, use bittersweet chocolate chips and the Double Chocolate Naked Pea protein powder. Otherwise, use semisweet chocolate chips and the Chocolate Naked Pea protein powder.

*For a thicker, fudgier sauce, use 6 ounces instead of 7 ounces plant-based milk. For a saucier sauce, use 8 ounces. Note that the sauce will begin to thicken as it cools.

**For sweet-smoky intrigue, insert whole or halved strawberries onto skewers, lightly brush with avocado oil, and grill before serving.
