What’s better than a butter board? That’s easy – this creamy avocado board! While this is not a replacement for the classic butter board popularized by TikTok, it’s a more versatile option. You can serve and enjoy it often. It’s 100% plant-based. And, of course, this creamy avocado board is absolutely delicious! Just scoop it up with tortilla chips or fresh tortillas and repeat!

How do you make it?

Just like a butter board, the fun thing about making a board like this is that you can spread it onto any cutting board, cheese board, or platter and top it however you wish! It’s actually a fun way to use up “stuff” from your fridge or pantry. But, for recipe lovers, I’ve got one for you.

Start by making my avocado anything dip (recipe HERE). I actually double it for a party-friendlier platter. Or, if you want to cheat a bit, just pick up some guacamole and whirl it up in a food processor until it’s velvety smooth! Then spread the avocado dip onto the platter by dolloping it using a large spoon and then spreading it with the tip of that spoon (ideally a pointy-ish one)!

Then add your garnish. I love hot pepper, pistachios, pomegranate arils, and fresh cilantro. But as with most recipes, go ahead and use whatever you have on hand … or use your culinary imagination! Think globally or seasonally. My next one for Thanksgiving will be topped with whole cranberry sauce, pumpkin seeds, and fried sage leaves (I think!)!

How do you serve it?

I serve this creamy avocado board with organic tortilla chips or fresh tortillas (I’m a fan of the unique options from Maria & Ricardo’s). But you can serve it with whatever you wish … think sweet potato fries, plant-based sausage or meatballs on bamboo picks, grilled “cheese” minis, seeded crackers, or just crusty baguette sices. Can’t go wrong

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Avocado Anything Dip (see HERE; use 2x recipe) or pureed guacamole
  • 1 habanero or other small hot pepper, extra-thinly sliced
  • 3 tablespoons pomegranate arils
  • 3 tablespoons salted roasted pistachios, whole or chopped
  • 1 small handful fresh cilantro leaves


Instructions

  1. Spread the avocado dip onto a cutting board or platter by dolloping it using a large spoon and then spreading it using the tip of that spoon (ideally a pointy-ish one)!
  2. Sprinkle with the habanero, pomegranate arils, pistachios, and cilantro.
  3. Serve as desired, such as with organic tortilla chips or fresh tortillas.
